Scott Reeves Quintet at Untermyer Park Bandshell as part of the UPAC World Fest Fest 2024 Summer Series. Featuring Matt Garrison on sax, David Janeway on piano, Don Falzone on bass, Eric Reeves on drums, and Scott on trombone and alto flugelhorn, we will be playing works by Chick Corea, Horace Silver, “Fats” Waller, Donald Brown, along with original compositions by Scott and David.
In the mid 60's, the Clark Terry/Bob Brookmeyer Quintet recorded three highly-acclaimed records featuring Clark's virtuosic, exuberant flugelhorn and trumpet playing and Bob's compositional approach on the valve trombone, anchored by a strong rhythm section and unique compositions. Wishing to bring this body of music to greater public awareness, alto valve trombonist Scott Reeves transcribed much of this music and will be joined by trumpeter Freddie Hendrix, pianist David Janeway, drummer Eliot Zigmund (formerly with Bill Evans), and Bill Crow - the bassist on 2 of the original recordings and still swinging hard at age 95!
